Collected by James Kaplan and Jeffrey Herbst
Produced in the fall of 2000 as part of AFT’s fall concert series, Sweet Baby James celebrated the music of James Taylor as interpreted by AFT veterans Don Thompson, Chris Irwin, and Karen Mal. The show included such Taylor songs “Carolina in My Mind,” “The Secret of Life,” (of course) “Sweet Baby James,” and a now-legendary story about Thompson’s period of busking with “Fire and Rain” in the Paris Metro system.
