DESCRIPTION:A celebration of the music of the Weavers\, the legendary folk quartet that made famous such hits as “Kisses Sweeter Than Wine\,” “If I Had a Hammer\,” and the titular “Goodnight Irene.” One of the most popular folk ensembles in American history\, the Weavers wrote and performed songs from around the world\, bringing vitality to the American folk scene for decades\, despite being blacklisted in the 1950s. Since premiering in the fall of 1994\, Goodnight Irene has become one of AFT’s most popular productions\, having been performed in a variety of other venues across the country and returning twice to AFT’s own stage\, in summer 1996 and fall 2005.

DESCRIPTION:Set in Door County’s own Liberty Grove in 1913\, this delightful comedy follows Jane Duncan in her quest for life\, liberty and the pursuit of the ballot box. When Jane illegally votes in her husband Richard’s upcoming mayoral election\, she leaves him with no choice but to arrest her. Richard hides his embarrassment about the ordeal by fleeing the town and returning in disguise\, all the while trying to regain control over his wife and his constituents. Produced in 2006.

DESCRIPTION:This wonderful tribute to John Prine’s songs was produced for AFT’s 2006 Fall Show and featured three dynamic musicians Eric Lewis\, Claudia Russell\, and Scott Wakefield. \nSinger/songwriter John Prine has been making music for more than 30 years. He has twice won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album (in 2006 for his album Fair and Square) and has been inducted into the Nashville Hall of Fame. His humorous and heartbreaking songs have been recorded by a diverse group of artists\, such as Steve Goodman\, Bonnie Raitt\, John Denver\, Carly Simon\, Bette Midler\, Johnny Cash\, Tammy Wynette\, Nancy Griffith\, and The Everly Brothers.
